Brings back many, many memories when I used to run away as a
teenager….Forgot about this song, which its lyrics are extremely powerful
describing the hellish sadness suffered by all runaways. It is very sad
when living at home with family members becomes so constantly unbearable,
that the only option available is to escape in desperation. Even though
most runaways, as myself once was, have no idea what is out there awaiting
them (on these cruel streets), they feel that their backs are against the
wall, with no way out, except to take that chance of survival else where.
Therefore, my job as a mother of a 7 year old, is to educate her regarding
this subject, and to treat her a lot differently than I was by my parents.
It is very important that I keep the contact between us open always, so
she won’t follow in my foot steps. I feel is it vital that I always keep a
safe, loving, and understanding home & way of life for my child, so she
doesn’t have to make the awful decision to leave when she gets older. God
bless all runaways who are running the streets at this very moment. I was
lucky to have survived ALIVE every time I ran away.

This whole song tells the story of my oldest son Donovan, lost inside of
his own mind. hes 21 now. Its hard to watch your child self-destruct and
beg you for help and ask why is he like this? He hit the streets when he
was 19, when he turned 18 that was it. Things got so much worse, in an out
of jail. Nobody would help me, so many doctors, all for nothing. He has
overdosed twice on the streets. I love you son!
