This is the best version of “Payback”-the original studio version is a
little too slow, and some of the other live versions are too fast. It
sounds perfect like this-loosely tight.

I like this medley of songs by The Hardest Working Man in show business but
what are they playing IN BETWEEN “Cold Sweat” and “Papa’s Got A Brand New

Neosoulgroovydude says:

fred wrote a book. hit me fred! good stories. he was a jb worker and didnt
like jb swag all the time. they finally put out his rare jazz
album, watermelon man jb held back even tho james gave him top billing with
jbs. he didnt like the uniforms & he wanted to play more jazz but he was
working so he couldnt complain. he made records outside james, including
house party. he mentioned that he wanted to get away uniforms as solo
artist, but fred is well known. he still funks with maceo and others…
